Lighting Experience

Thorlux have been manufacturing luminaries since 1936, with a reputation across the globe for their iconic range of professional lighting. They approached SmartSi with an intriguing brief – to transform their training suite into a state-of-the-art presentation room to educate customers on the nature of light.
The brief included individual, smart control of thirty-two of their light fittings, two electronic blinds and a discrete audio-visual system to play a custom video with voice over. The video and lighting installation were to operate in harmony, with specific lights turning on at specific times to highlight a property of light introduced during the video – this presented the most challenging element of the project: how to ensure that hundreds of individual light ‘activations’ are timed to be perfectly in sync with a video. The SmartSi design team rose to the challenge, artfully employing a media player designed for digital signage that allows commands to be added directly to the video, these are received by the Control4 automation system and immediately converted to lighting commands – resulting in a solution that ticked every box.
A recessed 65” TV and high quality soundbar ensure fantastic video and clear audio, and the whole experience is managed effortlessly from a Control4 touch panel. Our extensive programming and coding brought the prowess of Thorlux’ lighting to life, complementing an educational video for a truly responsive, live experience.
